The Lit-Hop Academy
Bridging the gap between poetry and rap, the Lit-Hop Academy inspires students to explore and appreciate literature through innovative, engaging, and creative educational resources.
Educational Workshops for Schools: Want to bring the power of "lit-hop" to your school or community? As a pioneer in blending literature and rap, I've taught workshops at institutions like USC, UCLA, and Stanford. From Poe to Kendrick Lamar, I show how classic literature informs today’s lyrics. Let's inspire your students to "Flow Like Poe"!

For Artists
Private lessons focused on making stronger work and learning how to release it effectively.
Are you trying to build a real music practice, improve your craft, and share your work without losing your voice in the process? The modern music landscape can be confusing, especially when it comes to streaming, promotion, and sustainability.
I’ve spent 25 years working as a DIY musician, and through the Lit-Hop Academy I’ve helped artists at many stages develop their sound, finish projects, and understand how to navigate release and distribution. Lessons are one-on-one over Zoom, with an emphasis on collaboration and practical skills.
We cover songwriting, demo recording, revision, and basic release strategy, with the goal of helping you leave each session with clearer direction and usable tools, whether you’re just starting out or refining an existing project.
Here’s what sets us apart:
Personalized Learning: Your goals, your pace.
Real Results: Students have released demos, completed albums, and grown as artists.
Cross-Disciplinary Inspiration: Explore how Edgar Allan Poe, Shakespeare, and modern rap legends like Kendrick Lamar overlap in style and substance.
